Hoylake Photographic Society
HPS

Hoylake Photographic Society was founded in 1951 when the club's main aim was the advancement of the Art and Science of Photography.

It was also intended to stimulate, encourage, maintain interest in and make photographic records of beauty spots, places, buildings and events of interest and amenities in the urban area of Hoylake and West Kirby.

The new digital age of photography has brought about a huge revolution in photography, with digital capture, access to the internet and the ability to look at – and show photographs and art. Most of our members use digital cameras and print their own pictures although there are still a couple of photographers using film!

We have regular meetings on a Friday evening 8.0pm at Newton Village Hall, Grange Cross Lane, West Kirby from September to April when there are varied and interesting evenings – inter-club competitions and talks by prominent photographers in their own subjects from all over Great Britain.

Members are also encouraged to take on an evening and show their work – this may involve a travel documentary or show their particular interest.

The Society belongs to the Lancashire and Cheshire Photographic Union (LCPU), which is an amalgamation of photographic societies in the two areas and organises competitions, meetings and judges for the associated clubs.

New members are welcome! Please come along to one of the meetings and see for yourself - there are new members who still have a lot to learn and there are experienced photographers in different fields who are more than willing to help and advise.

Come and make new friends who share an interest.
