Do you really know all that our local library offers? Here you can choose up to sixteen books at a time (children can take out eight) from over 12,300 books of fact and fiction for all ages, including some of the latest literature, sometimes only published weeks before.
If not available, the novel or biography you simply must read can be ordered, for a small charge, from elsewhere in Wirral or further afield. If you are fortunate you might even be the first borrower of one bought at your request. Sometimes the library may not stock work by a favourite writer (even our competent staff do not know everything !) – then on a special form suggest it does so and explain why it should!
Hoylake Allotment Association has one of only two self-managed sites on Wirral. Rented from Wirral Council, the site is managed by a committee of twelve who carry out site maintenance, man the shop, and collect rents. Their annual AGM usually takes place in January. They also organise a site allotment competition and a prize giving and social evening (pictured).
This is a new community group, not specifically for church people. It hopes to cover some aspects of all kinds of arts and crafts and to bring in people to give demonstrations so that everyone can have a go at something they haven't done before. It is open to anyone over the age of twelve years and both sexes are welcome.
Friends of Meols Park community group was formed in October 2007 in response to the decline of Meols Park and the removal of the children's play equipment, which had fallen into disrepair. Over the following months the group held many fundraising events and applied, successfully, for funding to the extent that in July 2009 the new Park Play Area was opened to much acclaim.
There are three independent GP practices working at West Kirby Health Centre, all of whom share many of the facilities. There are also staff employed by Wirral Primary Care Trust, such as health visitors, chiropodists and district nurses, working from the Health Centre.
