What is a Soroptimist?

Founded in 1921, Soroptimist (Latin: best of sisters) International is a world-wide volunteer service organisation for women who work to improve the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world.  First and foremost is friendship, helping and supporting others and finally fund-raising for local and international charities.

We meet twice a month.  We have a Business Meeting on the second Monday in the month at Hoylake Sailing Club and we have a social evening with a meal and speaker at The Manor, Greasby on the fourth Monday in the month.

Soroptimist International Hoylake & West Kirby have recently celebrated their

65th Anniversary with a special lunch at The Grange, Thornton Hough. The guest speaker was Dame Lorna Muirhead DBE, Lord-Lieutenant of Merseyside who represents Her Majesty the Queen.  Dame Lorna thanked the Soroptimists for inviting her to their special celebration.  President Win Prebble greeted the Regional President Jacquie Wetherill and Presidents of Wirral and Cheshire Branches.  The lunch was an exciting opportunity for everyone to network and spread the word of the Soroptimists.  President Win announced that they had recently donated £1,720.00 to Clatterbridge Oncology in aid of Prostate Cancer.
