In a first ever Open Studio event in the area, several artists in Hoylake and Meols invited the local community into their homes over the weekend of 20-22 November 2009.

The weekend began with a free preview night on the 20 November 2009 at the Hoylake Community Centre, where there was an opportunity to sample some of the art and to hear local poets perform whilst enjoying some light refreshments.

On Saturday and Sunday 21-22 November 2009 from 12.00 noon – 5.00 p.m., members of the public were welcomed into artists’ homes to see more of their work. 20% of all proceeds from the Artists in our Midst weekend went to RNLI Lifeboats, Hoylake and the local Cruse Bereavement Centre.

The Poem Shed, a poetry writing group led by distinguished poet, Gill McEvoy (formerly from Meols) and Poets à Hoy, a brand new poetry group based in Hoylake, performed a few of their poems at the preview night.
